POSITION: Two (2) HVAC Technicians, FSN-7; FP-7

WORK HOURS: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

LENGTH OF HIRE: Agreement renewable on annual basis

NOTE: ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS (See Appendix A) MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

The American Embassy in Antananarivo is seeking individuals to be assigned in the two positions of HVAC Technician in the Facility Management section.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the U.S. Embassy Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems including the chiller plants, air handling units, variable air volume (VAV) system, all pumping systems including piping and insulation, all duct work and related equipment and split units. Incumbent may be required to work during week-ends, holidays, afterhours, and shift work.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. A degree obtained after completion of at least two years university studies in one of the following fields: Mechanical/HVAC or Industrial/HVAC specialty is required (A copy of degree required).
  2. A minimum of seven years as a proven field technician in HVAC Company or in industrial plant is required.
  3. Language skills:

· Level II (Limited) Speaking/Reading English is required.

· Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading French is required.

· Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/ Reading Malagasy is required.

  1. Must have an in-depth understanding of theory and technical operation of electrical distribution systems, HVAC, chillers, chiller controls, building controls, and building mechanical systems.
  2. Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems and controls as well as ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical drawings and schematics, including control schematics, are required.
  3. Must be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite software. Possession of a valid driving license is required (A copy must be provided).

SELECTION PROCESS

When equally qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.

2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.

3. Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.

4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.

6. For Malagasy: A copy of the National Identity Card is required;
