Assistant Professor in Geoenvironmental Engineering University of Saskatchewan

The Department of Civil and Geological Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure‐track faculty position in Geoenvironmental Engineering at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will join a strong, rapidly growing, multidisciplinary research team that comprises two NSERC Industrial Research Chairs (IRC) focused on the geoenvironmental aspects of oil sands mine closure (applications for these two IRC positions are currently in process), an NSERC‐Cameco IRC in aqueous geochemistry, and the newly‐established NSERC CERC Chair in water security. This is a unique opportunity for an outstanding new academic to develop an elite research program through multidisciplinary, collaborative research with research chair holders as well as other faculty from across campus.

In addition to their research program, the successful candidate will be required to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Civil, Geological and Environmental Engineering programs and to participate in the administrative activities of the Department, College and University.

The ideal candidate will be a Geoenvironmental engineer with a Ph.D. in Civil, Environmental or Geological Engineering and expertise and experience in some of the following areas: mine closure/tailings management and reclamation, waste management, contaminated site remediation, and engineered barriers or containment systems. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and have the potential to develop a strong research program. Professional engineering experience in Canada (outside academia) is desirable and candidates must demonstrate the potential for strong collaboration with industry. Registration with the Association of Professional Engineering and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan as a P.Eng. is required for tenure.
