Regional Finance Director - Southern Africa
Based in South Africa


Reporting to the Southern Africa Region Senior Director of Operations and Senior Global Finance Director, the incumbent will provide leadership in financial management, accountability and integrity. He/she will guide 9 (nine) National Offices and Regional Office in ensuring accountability, capacity building of finance staff, coordination of budget and planning processes and review of financial strategies. The incumbent will promote an environment of innovation, empowerment and responsible stewardship throughout the region.



Major responsibilities:

  • Accountable for financial planning, budgeting and reporting for the region
  • Guide the National/Regional Offices in their banking, cash management, investments and safeguarding of assets
  • Explore strategies for reducing overhead costs
  • Ensure financial monitoring and control systems are in place and enforce compliance with budgeting, reporting and other procedures
  • Support and counsel financial staff
  • Oversee risk management
  • Foster solid networks with regional and global role-players
  • Promote financial innovation.



Minimum requirements:

  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting (MBA or equivalent preferred)
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems, budget/cash flow monitoring and internal accounting controls
  • Knowledge of and experience in government grant regulations and financial reporting requirements will be preferred
  • Experience in establishing and enforcing common protocols and standards throughout a large organisation
  • Senior leadership experience in strategic financial management
  • Track record of successfully training, developing/mentoring and supervising finance staff
  • Ability to interface sensitively with people at various levels.
