POSITION SUMMARY
Research In Motion is currently recruiting for a Regional Manager, Public Safety Operations (PSO) Compliance to come on board for six months with our Lawful Access team. Reporting to the Director, Lawful Access, the Regional Manager, PSO Compliance will lead the Public Safety Operations team of Data Analysts, Senior Data Analysts and Team Leads. The successful individual will be responsible for management of a high intensity operational response group, providing leadership and direction to the PSO department to meet the objectives set for the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
- Exercise a central role in the processing, reviewing, and responding of requests from law enforcement for records, under the with the supervision of an attorney.
- On a daily basis, assist Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) via direct communications such as correspondence, phone calls and meetings.
- Manage day-to-day activities of the PSO team to ensure effective time and resource management.
- Make appropriate determinations for escalations to legal counsel for advice or senior management for support with certain law enforcement requests.
- Respond to inquiries from internal business teams, outside counsel, government agencies, and industry organizations.
- Lead process improvement initiatives for company's legal order compliance procedures (5%) by translating requirements into project tasks and objectives.
- Coordinate the recovery of costs with various law enforcement agencies, courts, and private attorneys.
- Support peers, direct reports, project managers and others as may be required.
- Initiate, receive, organize, track and report on special projects.
Please note this role is for a fixed term period of six months only.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BSc degree preferred with a strong academic record
- Extensive experience in a high-tech environment
- Experience in a compliance department
- Experience interfacing with Law Enforcement Agencies
- Knowledge of telecom and electronic communications laws
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain the required security certificates of government authorities in the territory for which they are located
- Security clearances will be required
- Excellent analytical skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to anticipate needs and adapt to changing priorities and daily demands
- Ability and willingness to take initiative to address problems and make continuous process improvements
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team
- Standby availability outside regular business hours
- Full business fluency in a second language is highly desired
