Strategy Manager
Job Title:Strategy Manager Level: L4 Reports To: Commercial Director, Nigeria Context/Scope:The role is based in Nigeria. Nigeria: Guinness Nigeria Breweries Limited is the 2nd largest premium drinks company in Nigeria with a large portfolio across beer, RTD and malt drinks with innovation as a key platform for success locally. Our spirits business, Diageo Brands Nigeria, opened in 2010 with Johnnie Walker and Baileys as our key brands. Strategy: This role will work closely with the MD and Finance Director of Nigeria, functional heads, departments in market and relevant external parties. Market Complexity:This role operates in the West African context and has significant impact on the business requiring self-drive, management and dealing with a lot of uncertainty. Ensuring that the strategic direction developed is not rigid or narrow to allow for creativity or change due to market dynamism. Purpose of Role:· Develop detailed analyses and work with businesses to deliver action plans supporting short and long term strategies within the group. · Understand business issue to identify scope of work and plan the activities and resources required for the project · Deliver great project outcomes for business – robust, pragmatic strategies that create new possibilities for the business. Most projects require analytical models built from a wide range of internal and external data – all need clear, concise presentation and communication to stakeholders. · Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure strategies are actionable and oversee their implementation. Qualifications and Experience Required:Qualifications: · Degree level, preferably from a top tier school with excellent results Experience: · Strategy consulting experience preferred, with definite broad business experience in a large “blue chip” organization · Project management experience · Experience in helping to execute strategic plans · Excellent communication skills both written and verbal · Excellent influencing skills · Conceptual, problem solving/analytical skills · Good experience of relationship building · Work experience in Nigeria preferred Barriers to Success in Role (Optional):· Lack of interest in research and analysis to break down an issue into component parts, find patterns in data and find the story behind the facts · Inability to drive strategy into execution · Lack of creativity to identify new approaches to business issues · Inability to plan work or deliver to high quality in tight deadlines · Inability to work independently · Poor presentation and computer skills · Lack of thorough understanding of the drivers of business growth · Inability to influence senior stakeholders |
