The Department of Earth Sciences is now recruiting for an Alumni Relations Officer to develop and implement plans to engage with the alumni of the Earth Sciences Department. Key requirements for this post include an ability to work with professional and academic colleagues in the development of relationships with alumni, to organise events (e.g. social gatherings, public lectures) involving up to 200 people, and to maintain effective streams of communication with alumni. The postholder is based at the Department of Earth Sciences and will work closely with staff in the Alumni Office of the University and in the Development Office (Oxford and North America). There will be opportunities for career development within the University Alumni Relations and Development structure.

The postholder will need to have a good general level of education, including a Bachelor degree or equivalent; experience in alumni relations, fundraising or comparable activities; experience in organising events and good organisational skills. They will have the ability to develop congenial interpersonal relationships with a variety of constituencies and experience in developing publicity material including for websites. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are essential and a degree in science or experience working in a science-related field is desirable. The successful candidate must be flexible and prepared to work out of regular hours and to travel.

This is a full-time permanent post.
