Assistant Trials Manager , London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

The LSHTM Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) is within the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, a leading postgraduate institution in global health. We are a WHO Collaborating Centre in Violence and Injury Prevention, and the Cochrane Injuries Group is based within our Department. We are a centre of excellence supporting the development and evaluation of public health and health care interventions worldwide. The CTU has an international reputation for its clinical trials, especially in the area of emergency care and our collaborative network extends to over 50 countries worldwide.

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Trials Managers with a broad range of skills, to play a key role in our current programme of work. In this role you will be contributing to the coordination of a number of clinical research projects. You will be involved in all aspects of the conduct of clinical trials including co-ordinating and completing projects and will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills that will enable you to effectively manage clinical trials. In addition to other world regions, the post will specifically support the trials coordination in the Spanish speaking Latin America and Caribbean region.

The successful applicant will be part of a cohesive and efficient team, and by contributing effectively to the conduct of trials will make a major contribution to the success of our research programme. You should have a basic understanding of the principles of randomised controlled trials.

The post holder will need excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Spanish and the ability to organise both him/herself and others. He/she will need to demonstrate flair and innovation when faced with challenges. He/she will contribute to the day to day management of the trials and will work closely with the Project Director and Chief Investigator to ensure successful completion.

The post is initially for 12 months with potential for extension. The appointment is available immediately and the salary will be within the range £26,607 to £30,266 in the Professional Support pathway grade 4.
