Vacancies in the NEW Evaluation and Accountability Unit

ActionAid has recently approved its Strategy for 2012-2017, ‘People’s Action to End Poverty’, which reaffirms the organisational commitment to a human rights-based approach to development. A key part of our new strategy focuses on effective monitoring and evaluation of our Programmes.

The Directorate of Organisational Effectiveness is seeking experienced Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) professionals to work together with the Head of Evaluation and Accountability to craft an international Monitoring & Evaluation strategy for implementation across our federation.


These roles will be part of a five person team that collectively will provide Monitoring & Evaluation support to 43 members/country programmes which are organised into 7 country groups, 13 international programmes (3 of which are international campaigns on tax justice, safer urban spaces, and land grabbing, the other ten of which are related to our strategy outcomes), and numerous donor funded multi country programmes. The team will collectively set, support and monitor M&E standards and policy across the federation, continuously identifying good practice inside and outside the sector to inform learning.

International Terms and Conditions, base salary GB£54,372 per annum

The Head of Evaluation and Accountability provides leadership and advice in supporting the organisation to meet its accountability, learning and planning system (ALPS) requirements at all levels, ensuring that the system remains dynamic and relevant. Through this role, effective and appropriate methodologies and frameworks for measuring progress and impact at a global level is developed. This Senior Manager sets the optimum levels of assessment of impact, reporting etc. as well as then ensuring that they are met.
