Manager: Enterprise Risk & Internal Audit

Manager: Enterprise Risk & Internal Audit


On behalf of all 3 divisions of the NRF, including RISA, SAASTA and the National Research Facilities (NFs), the Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit Manager will need to:
• Manage (ie plan, lead, control and organise) the internal audit function, using both in-sourced and out-sourced resources • Create enterprise risk management system • Integrate the internal audit function with the risk profile of the organisation • Plan, develop and implement risk management processes and systems • Identify, assess, quantify and report on risks and thereby compile and maintain a current consolidated risk profile • Devise solutions, mitigation plans and control improvements to reduce risk and oversee their implementation • Ensure organisational compliance with relevant legislation and best practices • Provide input into strategy and policy development and implementation • Facilitate the awareness of risk management and internal control • Assist with the reporting and planning functions by providing inputs from a control and risk perspective.


Requirements:
• Degree in either the Engineering or Commerce field, including BCom/Public Administration/Business Administration • Postgraduate qualification with a focus on Risk Management and/or Internal Audit would be advantageous • 5 years’ experience in the combined field of risk management and internal audit • Knowledge of and experience in audit, risk management tools, insurance services, accounting practices (GAAP), the application of the PFMA, National Treasury Regulations and corporate governance principles (eg the King principles) • Experience in working with an enterprise risk management system • Leadership skills and the ability to plot a course in uncharted waters • Excellent verbal communication skills (individually and in presentations to business meetings) as well as written communication skills in English • Knowledge of the Higher Education sector would be advantageous • Strong planning and project management capabilities • Computer literacy • Negotiation skills • Quality orientation through accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to work in a consultative manner within and across teams • Ability to work under pressure on several projects simultaneously and a positive results-orientated attitude.
