Trainee ACTION for a World Community for Food Reserves

About ACTION:

ACTION for a World Community for Food Reserves is a non-governmental organisation established in 2011 under Belgian law, addressing the issue of world food security.

Its mission statement is “to get rid of famine and hunger through the establishment of a sovereignty-sharing World Community for Food Reserves which, by managing a reserve stock of grain, will prevent unaffordable price increases in its member countries.”

Tasks:

The overall task of the trainee will be to assist ACTION with the promotion of a world community for food reserves.

Specific tasks of the trainee will include, but will not be limited, to the following:

? Outreach: Reaching out to (potential) partners/contacts in universities, the institutions, Governments, NGOs and action groups. This includes initiating talks and discussions on lecture- and/or discussion-opportunities for ACTION and the organisation of meetings for ACTION in Brussels. Also, preparing of responses to and registration of queries from the general public;
? Publicity: Keeping the website updated and internally consistent; overseeing the development of a promotion film explaining sovereignty-sharing; and drafting and circulation of press releases;
? Research: Researching relevant developments for ACTION’s mission and provision of short summaries of these developments for internal working purposes;
? Finances: Maintaining financial records and seeking of grants by completing grant application forms.


Requirements:

Candidates for the position are expected to:

? Have a university degree;
? Have demonstrable interest in international affairs and world politics;
? Be living in Brussels or surrounding;
? Be an independent worker, with a proven ability to multitask;
? A good and demonstrable command of English;
? Be willing to do a wide variety of tasks, ranging from administrative to more challenging tasks;
? Have a good sense of organisation;
? Have an aptitude for listening and summarising discussions in writing.

All candidates will be considered regardless of their working experience, however proven professional competence will be positively appreciated.

What we offer:

If accepted, the candidate will be appointed as trainee for ACTION. The candidate will initially be appointed for a probationary period of three months. In case of a positive evaluation after this period, the contract will be prolonged with a minimum total stay of six months and a maximum of twelve months.

The candidate will initially work from his/her home, with potentially working from an established office at a later stage.

The gross monthly salary, all included, is set at € 1000 per month, with a 40 hours workweek.
