Communications Senior Associate
Root Capital
Responsibilities:
• Conduct research on current clients within Root Capital loan portfolio to assess potential for storytelling and repurposing content for distribution for fundraising purposes and within thought leadership circles.
• Collaborate with staff from different teams, conduct online research and interviews with loan officers, clients and other stakeholders as needed to gather information for written or multimedia materials.
• Ensure consistent use of Root Capital messaging to build and support Root Capital brand in website copy, email, video, interactive product demos, print, and other mediums.
• Write for monthly and quarterly Root Capital publications including newsletter, quarterly performance and impact reports, and print collateral meant for distribution to investors, donors, clients and other external stakeholders.
• Write client stories and other content for Root Capital Website.
• Write other materials as assigned, including speeches, power point presentations, blogs, press releases, video scripts, etc.
• Write and/or support development of printed marketing collateral
• Travel to field to collect “stories” and interview clients, producers, and other stakeholders.
• Assist with response to press and media inquiries.
• Develop and maintain media database, as needed

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or similar field, plus 3-5 years of related professional experience, or equivalent combination.
• Demonstrated awareness of international development and finance issues. Familiarity with the fields of social enterprise, sustainable agriculture, impact investing, and finance.
• Excellent written communication skills with a demonstrated command of grammar, punctuation and style.
• Experience with marketing messaging in various mediums.
• Ability to communicate complex, technical ideas in a compelling and succinct form for a variety of audiences, such as small and growing businesses managers, donors, investors, and industry-partners.
• Strong verbal communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills; ability to gather targeted information from a diverse audience, ranging from partner organizations to small-scale farmers.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks appropriately.
• Conversational and written Spanish is a strong plus.
• Ability, past experience, and desire to travel to the rural regions of the developing countries in which we operate.
• Passion for Root Capital’s mission of environmentally and socially responsible investing.
