Director of Marketing
(RED), a division of ONE, is
a simple idea that transforms our incredible collective power as
consumers into a financial force to help others in need. (RED) works
with the world’s most iconic brands - Apple, The Coca-Cola Company and
Starbucks to name a few - who contribute up to 50% of profits from
(RED) branded goods and services to help fight AIDS. To date, (RED) has
generated over $195 million for the Global Fund to fight AIDS,
Tuberculosis and Malaria, to support HIV/AIDS grants in Ghana, Lesotho,
Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia. 100% of that money goes to
work on the ground – no overhead is taken. Global Fund grants that (RED)
supports have impacted more than 14 million people with prevention,
treatment, counseling, HIV testing and care services.
The Director of Marketing will be based in (RED)’s New York office
and report to both the Chief Digital Officer and the General Manager of
Business Development. The position will drive creative and strategic
marketing efforts for (RED) to raise awareness of the mission to raise
money for the Global Fund; help drive (RED)’s digital presence in
attracting new users, growing (RED)’s audience and implementing (RED)’s
campaigns; oversee a global tracking study from implementation to
analysis including identification of a research partner; and collaborate
in a small, tight team across various functions to achieve
deliverables. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop marketing plans around (RED)’s two big marketing moments each year: World AIDS Day (December 1st) and (RED)RUSH (beginning in June). Ensure plans are scaling over time so each moment gets bigger and better with deeper engagement amongst partners, the (RED) community, consumers and activists.
- Drive engagement in digital: increase (RED)’s website traffic and acquisition of new audiences through online marketing tools and tactics, including and not limited to search (paid and SEO), user acquisition and list building tactics, and affiliate marketing
- Develop analytics dashboard and identify improvements to drive greater audiences and deeper engagement
- Execute plans to ensure that everything progresses on budget and schedule and yields maximum ROI
- Create assets needed to tell compelling stories through imagery (video and photography)
- Manage creation of campaigns during the two moments each year and for the (RED) brand and provide day-to-day management of creative agencies and freelancers
- Lead research and analysis for (RED) brand that measures the health of the brand as well as awareness and comprehension
- Be part of the team to project manage the agency responsible for the design and build of (RED)’s new web presence
- Develop data tools and case studies for (RED) and brand partners to demonstrate the value (RED) brings to partners
SPECIFIC TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ experience in developing and executing marketing strategies in the digital space for high profile brand(s)
- Excellent relationship builder who can bring established relationships of their own to the table
- Proven track record of developing marketing campaigns that drive growth (financial, community/audience)
- Proven track record of using online marketing tools to drive user acquisition
- Strategic, big-thinker and tactical producer who can get work done with limited resources
- Ability to thrive in a results-driven start-up environment
- Background in one of the following areas is preferred: e-commerce, list-building publisher, media
- Passionate, open-minded, fun, honest, and supportive
