Our Translation Team
Based
in Hong Kong, a team of four translators support the China practice
across Corporate; Finance; Dispute Resolution; Intellectual
Property/Information Technology; and Anti-trust, Competition and Trade.
The Hong Kong team works closely with Translators located in our Beijing and Shanghai offices.
Our
translation process usually involves reading through original material
and re-writing it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of
the source text is retained; using specialist reference books to find
the closest equivalents for terminology and words used; using
appropriate software for presentation and delivery; researching legal
and technical phraseology to find the correct translation.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal
candidate translates legal documents with a China focus from English to
Chinese and occasionally from Chinese to English. The legal documents
include merger and acquisition documents, joint venture contracts,
prospectuses, shareholders’ agreements, initial public offering
documents, financial stations, annual reports, loan contracts,
securities documents, litigation documents, and others.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has
· At least five to ten years of experience working as a translator in a law firm.
· Speaks fluent English and Mandarin.
· Completed a bachelor’s degree in the People’s Republic of China or a Translation degree at a Hong Kong university.
