To drive business development and marketing for the DR Practice Group.
Working closely with the Global Practice Group leader, and Head of
Marketing and Business Development for London, the candidate will build
an understanding of the business objectives and activities of the
practice, leading the development of a detailed business development and
marketing plan and actively driving its implementation.
- Contribute actively to the formulation of the London DR Practice
Group’s business plan, with some support to the global practice.
- Manage and mentor the three Business Development Managers to
ensure appropriate business development and marketing communications
activities are being delivered as required by the teams.
- Translate business plan objectives into a detailed business
development and marketing plan that supports the key practice areas and
product groups, by reference to regular active review of practice
requirements and market opportunities.
- Working alongside the partners, drive a focused approach to the
development or extension of client relationships. Help implement and
manage Freshfield’s key account programme –. This will include
involvement in client-facing initiatives and ensuring the
production/monitoring of client action plans.
- By working with the wider MBD function, identify and pursue
opportunities for the practice group for cross-selling to the firm’s key
clients. Includes liaising with other practice groups or sector groups
or offices targeting the same clients.
- Contribute actively to the design and implementation of new
business initiatives; and identify existing and new clients as
individual targets for new business.
- Advise on best practice in relation to the preparation and
delivery of pitches in line with the practice group’s business and
communication objectives.
- Design and implement a marketing communications and product
marketing strategy for the London practice, generating marketing
activity and campaigns as dictated by the practice group’s business plan
and market activity. Work with others in MBD as required – including
the global campaigns team.
Other Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Work with London DR Practice Development Lawyers (PDLs) as required, to develop identified hot topics.
- Assist in profile raising activities for partners in London DR, working with the PR team on any media aspects.
- Liaise with the PR team to maintain effective press coverage on major cases and market developments in the sector.
- Co-ordinate editorial contributions to firm wide or international marketing materials as appropriate.
- Take responsibility for the practice group’s approach to directory submissions, working closely with the PDLs as appropriate.
- Assist with the development and management of marketing and
business development systems. Also build a close working and mentoring
relationship with other members of the MBD teams in London.
- Assist in developing relevant website content.
- Degree educated.
- Significant business development and marketing experience in a
business-to-business environment (preferably a major professional
services or consultancy firm). Ideally, this would include a decent
level of previous client exposure.
- Proven track record of delivering against objectives, along with the delivery of tangible outputs and thus, business benefit.
- Experience of working in roles that require buy-in and engagement of senior management.
- An understanding of what a dispute resolution department does is desirable,
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Project management skills; capable of multi-tasking and working to demanding deadlines.
