Programme Manager: Economic Diplomacy Programme (No: PMEDIP12)

SAIIA seeks to appoint a Programme Manager for its Economic Diplomacy Programme. This programme focuses on South Africa and Africa’s engagement with the global economy, including various regional economic integration efforts underway on the continent. 

Requirements:

Requirements for this position include: 

Expert knowledge on global economic governance institutions, South African foreign and/or economic policy, trade and investment policy, regional economic integration, Africa’s international relations, African development studies, African political studies or African institution- building; five to ten years’ work experience and well-established networks related to the aforementioned research areas, including with key stakeholders and policy makers; an outstanding PhD or Master’s degree; a minimum of five years of project fundraising experience, including proposal writing skills and knowledge of funder reporting requirements and M&E; strong interpersonal skills, meticulous attention to detail and ability to work under pressure; strong management skills, particularly the ability to manage a diverse group of researchers in the field and their outputs; and lastly, proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project). French or Portuguese would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel within Africa and internationally to build networks and conduct primary and secondary research, as well as to conduct and participate in conferences, seminars and workshops. The position also requires the successful candidate to deputise for the Programme Head: Economic Diplomacy with regards to reporting and representation duties as well as finance, project and staff management.
