Tetra Tech VICE PRESIDENT FOR TECHNICAL OPERATIONS


Tetra Tech (www.tetratechard.com) is recruiting for a Vice President for Technical Operations to join the firm’s senior management team. This position will be in Tetra Tech ARD's home office in Burlington, Vermont.

Position Summary: Technical Operations are at the core of our business development and project implementation, and the Vice President for Technical Operations provides the leadership to position Tetra Tech ARD to win new business, and execute projects at a high level of technical excellence. The VPTO candidate embodies and understands the vision, leadership, decision making, technical competence, and personal commitment for accountability that are required for success in our business environment.
Responsibilities: * Providing leadership, vision and management for Tetra Tech ARD’s new business development activities, including enhancing and expanding our core services, diversifying the client base, and cross-selling Tetra Tech IDS services. * Maintaining and improving the performance of the new business processes. * Developing and maintaining leadership on technical visioning and strategy development. * Representing Technical Operations to the Senior Management Team. * Leading and supervising Sector Directors, the Director for New Business Development, and the heads of the Cross-Cutting Technical Services Units. * Maintaining an outstanding reputation with our clients and partners. * Providing senior leadership support for the Tetra Tech IDS initiative. * Working collaboratively with other Tetra Tech units to grow Tetra Tech’s IDS business. * Promoting technical thought leadership activities with Sector Directors and technical staff.
Essential Qualifications: * Demonstrated track record of technical excellence and ability to grow a portfolio of new IDS business; * Demonstrated strong knowledge and expertise in the areas of responsibility and with proven successful leadership skills; * Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and perform numerous tasks simultaneously; * Ability to effectively delegate, communicate with and motivate people working in a team environment; * Demonstrated effective and culturally-sensitive skills interacting with customers and partners in the international development arena; * Graduate degree in one or more of the major sectors or other related field of international development; * Minimum 15 years of professional experience, including at least 10 years of work experience overseas (residential or intermittent) with strong client, supervisor and peer recommendations; * Previous experience leading and managing integrated teams (e.g., in other senior management teams, project implementation teams, or multinational professional services teams); * Demonstrated writing ability and previous successful proposal development experience responding to USAID and USG procurements; * Strong network of contacts within the international development community; * Functional competency in at least one major foreign language (preferred languages include Spanish, Arabic and/or French); * High level proficiency in MS Office applications; * Excellence in critical thinking, writing and oral communication skills required; and * This position requires periodic short-term international field work and regular travel to Washington, DC (10-25%).
