Tullow Oil Group Social Performance Manager


Tullow Oil is a leading independent oil & gas, exploration and production group, with interests in over 100 exploration and production licences across 22 countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and South America.

Role
The Group Social Performance Manager will be instrumental in the development, roll out and assurance of implementation of social performance standards across the Group and for providing strategic direction and counsel to the Tullow Group on social performance issues relating to the business. Additionally, he or she will support the Regional External Affairs Managers in building social performance capacity within their respective business units.
The incumbent will be based in Chiswick with regular travel to key business units in Africa, South America and Asia. The position will report to the Vice President, External Affairs and work closely with Tullow’s three Regional External Affairs Managers to deliver Tullow’s social performance objectives throughout the business.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be Masters degree qualified in humanities or social science and have substantial experience working within a social performance role in a remote location in extractive industries (mining or oil and gas) and to World Bank/IFC standards. Previous experience in developing and embedding social performance standards and monitoring and auditing the application of standards is essential, together with a strong knowledge of theories, trends and discourses relating to social performance. The candidate should have well established contacts with leading international experts in the field. Experience in developing projects within the extractive sector and in managing large scale, high impact, strategic regional development programmes will also be essential.
Skills
Applicants should be highly motivated individuals with excellent written, verbal and networking skills. They should be able to demonstrate the ability to produce effective social performance frameworks, policies and procedures and to develop a strategic approach to social and socio-economic impact management. The successful candidate will exhibit high levels of personal integrity and have the ability to influence, inspire confidence and build trust at all levels of the organisation.
