Role Summary

Working within the systems area of the finance support department you will provide analytical reporting support to senior managers and to liaise with other support departments with regards to financial reporting best practice. This will include understanding and empathising with their pain points and directing them on construction of scalable reporting solutions based on their requirements and the strategy of the firm using tools that are available. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Elements of regular management information reporting provision to senior management.
  • Ad-hoc report production based on requests from senior management. 
  • Full understanding preparation, updating and analysis of the inputs into the firm's client profitability system.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure consistency of reporting information and draw together scalable solutions with the assistance of the Finance Systems Support team.
  • Produce reports, undertake further analysis to uncover causality as well as use your business knowledge to provide additional value to management.
  • Review reporting requirements of different areas of the business and recommend methods of improving their reporting process
  • Understand the systems and structures behind the information within the reports and manage the implementation of additional structures and systems to augment their information.
  • Ownership and delivery of reports and management information, including personally taking responsibility to ensure the quality of the information and it’s ability to meet documented requirements.

Requirements

  • Excellent financial skills including;
  1. Experience of financial systems within a professional services environment from a legal background
  2. Understanding of the finance function processes and revenue recording systems
  3. Accounting background and/or exposure to accounting principles and processes
  4. Proven ability to comprehend financial terminolog
  5. Previous experience of management information systems
  6. Ability to investigate and explain the causality of figures reported.
  • Excellent systems skills including;
  1. Intimate knowledge of accounting and revenue control from a systems point of view
  2. Knowledge of servers and database structures.
  3. Extremely advanced excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookups
  4. Previous use of an OLAP analysis tool along the lines of Proclarity, XLCubed or Panorama or excellent knowledge of pivot tables.

  • Self motivated with the ability, and resilience, to drive projects to their completion.
  • Self-starter – ability  to take initiative and recommend opportunities for improvement
  • Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to multi task and work on multiple projects.
  • Confident, able to lead meetings and projects, in addition, strong presentation skills.
  • Strong reporting visualisation skills 
  • Team player – reliable, flexible and willing to help
