Country Coordinator Public Affairs Belgium
The country coordinator Belgium is based at PlasticsEurope’s office in Brussels, Belgium and will report directly to the Regional Director West Region of PlasticsEurope (actually located in Paris office). He/she ensures the coordination of the Association’s activities in Belgium. This requires the ability to understand and anticipate the economic, political, cultural, and public landscape in the country. He/she is being integrated in the West Region regional team located in the offices of Paris and The Hague, and supported by the functional team located in the Brussels office.
The country coordinator maintains the dialogue between PlasticsEurope and its various external stakeholders in Belgium. He/she cooperates with national upstream and downstream associations and gathers emerging issues from Belgium, prioritising importance and urgency. He/she proposes actions to the Regional Director to be implemented.
Under the guidance of the Regional Director, he/she implements the pan-European public affairs strategy of the Association taking into account national and regional specifics, both internally to member companies, as well as externally to major stakeholders.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
To meet these expectations, candidates must have the following key competencies:
· Networking capabilities
The country coordinator must be able to network easily, both inside and outside the Association. He/she will have demonstrated that he/she is able to maintain relationships within the political landscape of the country as well as on the working level of ministries and institutions. His/her networking capabilities will be the result of good presence, a professional approach, strong interpersonal skills and the energy and drive to build awareness and credibility with key decision makers and stakeholders. In doing so he/she reveals a thorough knowledge of the political and law making process in the country.
· Communication skills
The candidate must understand complex issues, position them in the political and social environment and translate them into easy to understand messages. He/she must have the ability to establish contacts and to deal with a variety of people and styles.
· Further requirements
The candidate has a junior profile with the potential to grow at senior management level. He/she should be capable to take initiative, be self-motivated and be used to work independently while being a team player.
He/she has a strong academic background (a Master degree in Communication, Political Science or similar) and is fluent in Dutch, French and English.
