Sandvik Process Systems is seeking a
Process Engineer
Location: Calgary, Alberta Canada
At Sandvik Process Systems, we engineer total sulphur processing and handling systems to the strictest production and environmental parameters, with a typical turnkey project covering everything from pumping liquid sulphur from the storage tank, to loading equipment for the end product. In recent years, we have become a partner to several internationally-renowned engineering companies that service the petrochemical industry.
Currently we are looking to hire a Process Engineer. The Process Engineer will work closely with the engineering team to provide direction, leadership, training and support while improving technologies managed by this division.
The potential candidate will need to be someone who understands and accepts that perfect data is not always available. This person will have to rely heavily on educated assumptions and use process data from the field to validate those assumptions.
Responsibilities:
  • Creation and management of process simulations for new technologies
  • Management of existing process simulations for sulphur granulation, sulphur melting and sulphur degassing processes
  • Creation and management of field testing programs and procedures for existing and new technologies
  • Site visits for managing tests and data collection
  • Analyze and interpret data, determine validity of data and adjust testing procedures accordingly
  • Develop detailed reports on analysis and recommended actions
  • Provide technical troubleshooting assistance as required to maintain plant operations and maintenance functions
  • Manage implementation of process improvement opportunities
  • Participate in the development of project concepts, flow sheets, equipment specifications and layouts
  • Ability to listen, understand and communicate high value ideas
  • Perform key job functions with minimal supervision and direction
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally up to 30%-50% of the time
Required Skills:
  • Strong grasp of the relationship between the relative quantities of substances taking part in a reaction or forming a compound, gas-vapor mixtures, heat and material balance, thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel
  • Must be willing to travel internationally up to 30%-50% of the time
Experience and Education and Certification:
  • Engineering Degree (Chemical or Mechanical Preferred)
  • Experience with the Sulphur industry is considered an asset
  • Must have hands on experience working in the field with piping, process working with materials and the theoretical knowledge
  • Must have a valid passport and or be able to obtain one with no travel restrictions
  • Must be willing to travel internationally up to 30%-50% of the time
