Special Advisor - Practical Skills - Egypt

The Practical Skills Advisor will be based in Cairo, Egypt with some travel inside Egypt. The Advisor will assist in developing and administering several initiatives, including but not limited to the development of moot court competitions and clinical legal programs. The focus of these activities will be on developing critical thinking and practical lawyering skills among participating law students and young lawyers. The Practical Skills Advisor will work under the supervision of the ABA Rule of Initiative Country Director.

The Practical Skills Advisor responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Maintenance of partnerships with local universities and law schools - Development of and overseeing the implementation of moot court and writing competitions - Development of pilot law clinics at Egyptian law facilities - Training of local faculty to continue the administration of these programs after the program's completion - Formulation and maintenance of working group charged with implementation

EDUCATION: Master's Degree Doctoral Degree (JD, PhD)

EXPERIENCE: To receive consideration, candidates must have a JD and 10 years or, a relevant Master's Degree and 5-7 years relevant work experience and familiarity running law clinics and moot court competitions; training other instructors; project management and organizational skills; experience working on US government-funded programs and Arabic language skills a plus.
