ALS is a diversified analytical group, with a Mineral Laboratory in Edenvale. There is currently a vacancy within the Special Projects Department, which applicants are invited to apply for.

Special Projects Manager

Qualification required: A tertiary qualification with Mining/Chemical Engineering specialisation will be given preference.

Work experience required: l A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Project Management with a background in Metallurgy or Mining l Exposure to project management and analytical mining laboratories in Africa would be considered an asset.

General requirements: l Strong work ethic with high business acumen l Full computer literacy with MS packages (Excel, Visio) l Computer-based project management skills l Proven skills in: * Planning, organising, control and follow up - must be proactive and show initiative * Excellent written and spoken Business English essential with French and Portuguese a considerable advantage * Adhering to company rules, policies and regulations l The ability to work well under pressure and produce results on time within budget l Operations-orientation - must be able to work without supervision and outside of South Africa l The ability to travel throughout Africa and be "seconded" for projects l Managerial skills l Flexibility with regard to changing scenarios l Team player with the ability to co-ordinate team outputs l Physically strong/healthy/fit l A current valid driver's licence and passport.

The remuneration package offered will be in line with the relevant experience and qualification.
