VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The UNDP Somalia Country Office is currently looking for outstanding and high-level candidates to fill the following position:

Head of Sub-Office, Hargeisa, (P5) based in
Hargeisa / Somalia (Re-advertisement)

UNDP is the UN's global development network on the ground in 166 countries, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP Somalia is composed of three main clusters; Rule of Law and Security (ROLS), Governance and Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Livelihoods (PRSL). Although the UNDP Somalia main office is based in Nairobi due to security constraints in Mogadishu, a large number of staff is based in the various sub offices: Hargeisa and Garowe, in particular national staff.

Education:

Masters Degree preferably in Political or Social Science, International Studies, Public Administration, Economics; or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a related area

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in recovery and development affairs, crisis response and prevention, recovery and development, or other related area
• Experience in crisis or post conflict countries
• Senior-level management responsibilities of similar size and complexity, including operational management responsibilities
• Previous experience with UNDP preferred and good knowledge of UNDP rules and procedures is desirable
• Strong diplomatic skills in handling counterpart relations
