The Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Mission to the EU is seeking an individual for the position of
CULTURAL AFFAIRS AND PUBLIC EVENTS COORDINATOR

Cultural Affairs and Public Events Coordinator – FSN-8/FP-06* (trainee level) *FP-06 grade level to be confirmed by Washington

Work Hours: Full-time - 40 hours per week

NOTE: ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS AND MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN AND HOLD A SENSITIVE BUT UNCLASSIFIED (SBU) U.S. SECURITY CLEARANCE.

Basic Function of Position
The Cultural Affairs and Public Events Coordinator conceives and implements outreach programs, events and exchanges that support the Mission’s Strategic Plan. The combined activities aim to build strong transatlantic ties and U.S.-EU cooperation on U.S. Government political, security, and economic goals. The incumbent creates and maintains partnerships with EU institutions and public-private partnerships with think tanks and academic institutions to maximize program reach and resources.

Qualifications Required
Note: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience in managing program in liberal arts or a related field.
  • Language Requirements: Speaking, reading, and writing: level IV (fluency) in English and French.
  • Job Knowledge: An excellent knowledge of European Union organization, institutions, key personalities, and solid grasp of EU policies that affect U.S.-EU relations is essential. Must be familiar with U.S. cultural background and American government and institutions. Must be familiar with events planning.
  • Skills and Abilities: Incumbent must have the following: Ability and personal and professional qualities to develop and maintain access to high-level contacts in the EU, Think Tanks, and transnational educational and research organizations. Ability to work across many sections and agencies and the intellectual skills to manage programs in their substantive work areas. Flexibility and time management to handle a variety of projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to take initiative, and the administrative and organizational skills, as well as sound judgment, to plan and carry out outreach events and other projects with minimal supervision. Ability to draft communications, detailed program proposals and reports in English. Good typing skills, and ability to operate all office equipment.

Selection Process
