Internship: Resource Centre & Research

The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) is an applied policy research institute with a mission to conceptualise, inform and enhance the human security debate in Africa.

The Organised Crime and Money Laundering Programme is offering a six-month internship to assist in maintaining and developing its existing research capacity. The position is Cape Town based.

Internship profile:

  • Assist in developing an on-line database on organised crime
  • Conduct research on money laundering and organised crime
  • Assist the programme with any other ad-hoc research as required by the researchers
  • Assist with various programme publications
  • Assist with general administrative duties of the resource centre and office in general.
  • Work on an independent research paper under the mentorship of a member of staff.

Duration:

  • Six months long
  • 40 hours per week.

Remuneration:

  • R5000.00 – per month (including a transport allowance of R500.00)

Requirements:

  • Post-graduate or newly graduated student with a degree in Political Science, Criminology, Law, Economics, Sociology or similarly relevant field.
  • Good writing and research skills
  • Historically disadvantaged applicants are encouraged to apply.
