National consultant-Facilitator UN Cares HIV in the Workplace Orientation Sessions
UN Cares, the UN system wide workplace programme on HIV in New York, conducts half-day orientation sessions for all UN personnel based in New York. The orientation sessions started in 2005 and will continue for the foreseeable future. UN Cares New York on a regular basis organises eighteen half day sessions (two per day) each year to ensure that all newcomers have a chance to participate in a session. To date UN Cares relied on volunteers as facilitators of these sessions. Due to professional rotation and commitments, the majority of the trained volunteers cannot offer their services anymore. Therefore, UN Cares New York is looking for a consultant who could assume the task of facilitating the yearly 18 orientation sessions with 20 to 30 participants per session, with the possible support of one volunteer facilitator. The sessions for 2012 are planned for February, March, April, May, June, July, September, October, and November. Duties and Responsibilities | |
The facilitator will conduct two half-day sessions per day, one in the morning from 9:30AM – 1:00PM and one in the afternoon from 1:30PM – 5:30PM. He/she will work with the UN Focal Points of the hosting agency in setting up for the orientation sessions and will accommodate and oversee the work of the volunteer co-facilitator (if applicable). He/she will facilitate the sessions by the established format according to the UN Cares Facilitation Guide. The sessions are facilitated in a participatory way and include various forms of interactions between the participants. The consultant will conduct a live demonstration of the use of male and female condoms and provide a safe space for participants to openly address sensitive issues related to HIV. Facilitate the 18 planned UN Cares Orientation Sessions in New York for 2012.
