POLICY SPECIALIST (DATA AND RESEARCH - PROGRESS OF THE WORLD’S WOMEN)
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the centre of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates the United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States' priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. Progress of the World’s Women is UN Women’s biennial publication. It aims to inspire bold action by Governments and civil society to accelerate their efforts to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment around the world. It was launched to capture and convey successful strategies that can be replicated by programme and donor countries, by UN partners, by international and local NGOs and by women’s rights advocates and networks. Progress supports advocacy at global, regional and national levels and contributes to more coherent programming within UN Women and among our partners. The next edition of the report will be published in 2013. The Progress of the World’s Women team is in the Research and Data section of UN Women. The team researches, writes, produces and disseminates UN Women’s flagship biennial report. Under the direct supervision of the Progress of the World’s Women Report Manager, the Policy Specialist (Data and Research) will work with the team to complete high quality data research and analysis for the report. This role entails undertaking a wide range of research, data collection and analysis work to input directly into the report.
