Role Purpose

There are three different departments within Cargo in which we require commercial analysts and you can read more about each area in the summary below.
Revenue Management
Revenue Management act as the custodians of our capacity. Our goal is to optimise the value we generate by forecasting capacity, show up and demand as well as managing our ULD stock. You will be responsible for the capacity management of a portfolio of Virgin Atlantic routes, using your acquired experience with your analytical skills to optimise the return on the cargo asset.
Price & Product
Price & Product is responsible for the development and delivery of the pricing process for the entire Cargo network. In addition, we support the sales effort through the provision of detailed customer analytics and give direction to Cargo’s customer incentive strategy and internal sales incentive programmes. Through detailed market analysis, your understanding of Cargo’s price and value position will inform tactical and strategic decision making across the business.
Strategy & Analysis
Strategy & Analysis provide analysis to guide the long term strategic decision making processes across the cargo commercial arena in order to maximise the return on cargo space. In addition to this, we facilitate the development, implementation and tracking of the commercial strategy for each Route. You will not only be driving these core activities, you will also be involved in a variety of high profile projects for your nominated region; for example - forecasting the profitability of our next joint venture, providing analysis on what the next aircraft we should acquire and many more…

Responsibilities

To provide analytical support to the commercial decision making process. This could include the longer term supply and demand forecast that defines our cargo revenue budget, a short term forecast for a specific flight on a specific day or a customer’s predicted behaviour in the medium term.
Build relationships across the globe enabling you to influence effectively.
Present and defend your analysis at all levels of the organisation.
Produces, delivers and develop a variety of management information reports.
Proactively considers methods for improvement of data provision and assesses the potential for new data opportunities.

Requirements

Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience.
Analytical with high attention to detail.
An understanding of basic statistical and economic principles.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Good all round PC skills with emphasis on the following packages; Principles of business MI solutions, Excel, Access, Word & Business Objects.
Experience working in a commercial analysis role preferable but not essential.
Ideally forecasting experience.
Flexibility to travel.
