Government Relations Advisor – CEE Shell

We are currently looking to recruit a Government Relations (GR) Advisor Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) as part of a regional communications team. Reporting directly to the Communications Manager CEE & Mediterranean Cluster, you will have a major role in supporting businesses in representing Shell's interests to Governments and regulators, that have an interest in, and potential impact on Shell's domestic and international businesses in short and long-term.

Responsibilities

In your new role as Government Relations Advisor CEE, we will expect you to:

  • Implement global, regional and country-level government relations strategies;
  • Provide advice to the businesses on GR strategy, including representation on issues in 5 countries (Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia) within the CEE cluster;
  • Advise and brief regional businesses` VPs on opportunities related to external stakeholder engagement to maximize value;
  • Cultivate relationships with relevant external stakeholders especially with senior ambassadors and business councils of the countries;
  • Represent Shell, as appropriate, in key events and initiatives;
  • Provide support to new business development opportunities and related government related stakeholder challenges;
  • Drive forward business engagement in policy and regulatory development, build understanding of business impact not only in country but implications in EU and beyond.

Experience & competences

Essential

  • University or college degree in Communications/ Economics with significant experience in a mix of businesses, government /diplomatic and GR / Communications roles;
  • Professional communications background and a proven track record in Issues and Crisis management;
  • Good knowledge of governance and business control frameworks;
  • Capacity to multi-task and manage complexity;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage responsibilities within tight deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels;
  • Excellent oral and written skills both in Polish and English;
  • Another Central Eastern European language (related to the countries covered Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria) would be an advantage.
  • Ability do deal sensitively and effectively with different cultures.

Advantageous

  • Previous professional experience in multicultural environments;
  • Proactive attitude, diplomatic skills and very good teamwork skills;
  • Good command of additional EU language.
