Partner Organization: ZANGOC was established in 1996 in Zanzibar, Tanzania as a collective body of HIV/AIDS and youth organizations. ZANGOC's members work with youth and HIV/AIDS programming, youth employment and advocacy. ZANGOC also works to strengthen the capacity of smaller member groups. ZANGOC and YCI have been working in partnership since 2005.

Health Policy Officer

Position Description: • Identify district policy dialogue issues on GIV and AIDS, Malaria, TB, drug abuse, environmental conservation and gender • Increase involvement of Zanzibar CSOs in determining their policy dialogue networks • Collaborate with FBOs , NGOs and CBOs in Zanzibar to enhance the voice of civil society organizations at all levels • Collaborate with key government institutions and CSOs to redesign IEC/BCC campaigns to address key health issues • Collaborate with CSOs to implement policy dialogue campaigns and IEC and BCC material

Desired Background and Qualifications: • Post-secondary graduate in health sciences, public health or related field • Demonstrated policy dialogue experience • Strong relationship building skills • Ability to work in an environment with limited resources and minimal supervision • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Good cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills • Possess a great deal of initiative and flexibility • Prior overseas experience an asset

General Requirements: • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident • Between the ages of 19 and 30 • A post-secondary graduate • Out of school with no outstanding requirements for graduation • Ready to begin your professional career • Unemployed or underemployed • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Education Officer

Position Description: • Collaborate with Umoja teachers to plan appropriate and inclusive lessons • Work with teachers to develop a positive classroom environment, incorporating efficient classroom procedures and appropriate, meaningful homework assignments • Facilitate weekly discussions with the teaching team for the sharing of successes, modifications of strategies, new ideas and problem solving • Provide support and feedback on the facilitation and organization of the written and taught curriculum throughout the school • Facilitate in- service teacher training on appropriate topics Desired Background and Qualifications: • Post-secondary graduate in education or related field • Demonstrated recent classroom experience teaching English (reading, writing, speaking) • Coaching and mentoring experience • Knowledge of include teaching methodologies • Ability to work in an environment with limited resources and minimal supervision • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Good cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills • Possess a great deal of initiative and flexibility • Prior overseas experience an asset

Health Outreach Officer

Partner Organization: Faraja Trust Fund is a registered non-governmental organization established in 1991 in Morogoro, Tanzania. Faraja is an HIV/AIDS and community focused organization with a strong emphasis on youth and women. Faraja's key programming activities are preventive HIV/ AIDS education, HIV/AIDS care and counseling, income generating support for out -of-school youth, encouraging neighborhood women's associations. Position Description: • Conduct an assessment of gender-based violence in schools in urban Morogoro • Modify a gender-based violence curriculum for use in schools • Ensure that national standards, policies an guidelines on gender-based violence prevention and support are implemented in all activities • Create linkages and new partnerships with other organizations and networks to complement current orphan and vulnerable children (OVC) activities • Provide relevant training to OVC households
