Position Overview

IAVI is recruiting for a Manager, Donor Relations, within the Public Sector team of the Resource Mobilization Department (RM). The individual will be responsible for a portfolio of major government donors, including USAID. He/she will work closely with IAVI’s Senior Director for Public Giving and will be responsible for developing and implementing donor-specific fundraising plans, including conducting targeted outreach, managing key relationships with a goal to good donor stewardship, ensuring proactive communication, and overseeing development of proposals, workplans, and reports. The manager will also manage the proposal, work plan and reporting process for IAVI’s funding agreements through USAID, IAVI’s largest donor.
The key responsibilities encompass:

Donor Relations:
· Support the development and implement fundraising plans for a portfolio of donors, working closely with the Senior Director, Public Giving
· Manage relationships with donors and conduct targeted outreach in support of fundraising objectives.
· Support the CEO, VP for RM and Senior Director, Public Giving in their representation activities with major donors and influencers.
· Ensure proactive and responsive communication with donors, and track outreach through IAVI’s relationship management system.
· Raise important donor concerns internally, and ensure they are taken into account in department and organizational planning processes and activities.
· Monitor activities and progress in IAVI’s global programs to inform relationship management and donor reporting.
Proposals/Reporting:
· Manage development of donor workplans as it relates to the proposal process and ensure compatibility with organizational workplans and goals, working closely with the grants management team.
· Develop specific materials and publications, working closely with Communications and the Donor Operations team, to support donors’ reporting and external relations needs.
· Work with the grants management team to ensure appropriate tracking of compliance with donor workplans and expectations and keep donor informed of any changes to the workplan or achievements against it, by facilitating regular check-ins as required, and ensuring updated information to the donor on any changes.
· Contribute to the development and maintenance of relevant organizational records and systems.
Advocacy:
· Contribute to global advocacy initiatives, leading and/or supporting events, outreach, and activities as needed.
Management requirements:
· Ensure that the highest quality of skill, diligence and rigor is applied to all donor relations and cultivation efforts
· Ensure the implementation of public sector resource mobilization goals and plans
· Establish effective working relationships with other departments at IAVI, and external partners to advance IAVI’s mission.
Qualifications & Experience:
We seek an individual who possesses knowledge and experience working with North American and other non-OECD governments and/or multilateral organizations on international, political, health, financial and/or development issues. The successful candidate will have:
· Experience in fund raising and donor management
· An understanding of priority-setting, resource management and the bridge-building required to foster the development of an effective network for resource mobilization.
· Expertise serving as an advocate and understanding of advocacy goals and plans.
· Experience working with USAID or other US government agencies is an asset.
· Demonstrable ability to track and project-manage activities with an attention to detail.
· A Master level degree in social sciences, development studies or business management or equivalent qualifications is desired.
· 5 -10 years experience of successful project management and donor stewardship within the Public Sector.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
