Media Relations Manager - IIF

The Institute of International Finance is the world’s largest global association of financial institutions with over 450 members in more than 70 countries. We provide economic analysis to our members, act as a vehicle for exchanging views on global regulatory issues, and serve as a forum for engaging the private financial community in discussions with the public sector on global financial policy issues.

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with experience and skills in press relations to oversee communications with the media, prepare articles, brief senior management and coordinate press activities. The key responsibilities of this position will include: gathering, disseminating, and managing the flow of accurate and timely information to the media; actively promoting and developing collaborative working relationships with members of the press and leveraging those relationships to place stories; coaching relevant staff on media skills and preparing them for press encounters; responding to requests from press and strategizing with appropriate parties about when and how to respond to those requests; proactively monitoring activities so as to detect issues before they emerge; planning and executing press events; acting as a senior spokesperson to media; researching and writing briefing materials, press releases and articles.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant and progressively responsible experience in public/media relations, including substantive experience with the global financial press, and a portfolio of successful story development and placement. Applicants must also have outstanding writing skills with the ability to understand, interpret and write about complex, financial information; a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a skill-related field (i.e., journalism, public relations, communications) or content-related field (i.e., international relations, finance, economics); ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team; exceptional communication and organizational skills.
