In March 2012 we’ll be launching a research project called Operation 100 that will centre around facilitating community youth involvement in the prevention of the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.

The aim of Operation 100 will be to facilitate community youth involvement in the prevention of the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.

We’ll be carrying out extensive research to investigate the level of knowledge and application of knowledge of HIV/AIDS and reproductive health issues amongst the students of 100 public Junior High Schools.

At AFAWI Ghana, we believe that we can develop leadership in the future by giving young people a voice today. By involving children and young people in discussions about their education and how it could be improved, we enable them to develop confidence and empowerment, preparing them to take charge of their lives and play an active role in social development.

We’ll use the results of the research to build a capacity building program for the schools that take part, including training the teachers at the school to implement HIV/AIDS and reproductive health education effectively.

The project will launch in March 2012 in Ga East and West Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.
