The Department of Political Studies is seeking to fill an academic position at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (comparable to Assistant or Associate Professor positions in North America.)

The appointment will be in the field of Public Policy with a capacity to teach policy analysis at postgraduate level as part of the Masters in Public Policy programme. Undergraduate teaching in public policy and politics is also required. Applicants should have a PhD and a record of publication, plus experience in teaching, and should be prepared to supervise postgraduate research. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate an interest in developing teaching and research in the area of New Zealand politics.

The Department of Political Studies is New Zealand's top-ranked politics department, with a 2011 QS world ranking of 35. The vibrant nature of the Department is reflected in the age profile, research innovation and teaching expertise of its 15 full-time academic staff. It has an outstanding postgraduate programme, with close to one in five of its effective full-time student numbers enrolled at postgraduate level. Its PhD student community is very active and growing fast in size.
