Social Media Analyst ESN - European Service Network

Overview

ESN is looking for an experienced professional to carry out both one-off and on-going media monitoring exercises for its clients, using a variety of tools and techniques.
ESN increasingly monitors online discussion of clients’ brands, programmes and policies, as well as reactions to its own communication outputs, in both news and social media channels, to provide inputs to:

  • Communication audit – benchmarking, etc.;
  • Reputation management;
  • Crisis communication;
  • Communication targeting – identifying influencers;
  • Communication impact assessment (ex ante and ex post).

It wishes to expand its monitoring capacity with the recruitment of a new expert. The successful candidate will report to ESN’s Head of Consulting, and may work either from ESN’s central Brussels office or in the premises of its clients. Training will be given in the use of specific tools and procedures.
The interview process will include a practical test.

1. Mission
Your task will be to set up and implement monitoring projects to meet the defined objectives of different clients. Tasks may include:

  • Project specification;
  • Project set-up;
  • Periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) quantitative and qualitative analysis of results;
  • Reporting.

The job may also include the management of client social media accounts.

2. Profile
We are looking for a self-starter who is creative, dependable, well-organised and meticulous, and who can stay cool under the pressure of tight deadlines. Candidates should have a good background in communication, practical working knowledge of the major social media platforms, and interest or experience in EU affairs. Some statistical training would be a distinct advantage.
Essential characteristics (please do not apply unless you match all of these):

  • Minimum one year successful professional social media communication or monitoring experience;
  • Familiarity with a variety of social media communication approaches and tools;
  • Complete digital literacy, including advanced knowledge of MS-Excel;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Good writing and presentational skills;
  • Languages: native-level written and spoken English, and at least conversational French;
  • University degree (Bachelors).

Desirable characteristics:

  • Extensive personal social media experience;
  • Professional experience of EU affairs;
  • A degree in Communication and/or EU affairs.
