Communication Project Manager ESN - European Service Network

Brussels, Belgium


ESN is looking for an experienced project manager to work from its central Brussels office. The successful candidate will report to the Project management director. The interview process will include a practical test.

1. Mission

Your task will be to manage a variety of communication projects from launch to end product, coordinating the development of communication products to meet identified business needs within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, quality and methodology. Tasks will include:

  • Project design and specification;
  • Preparation and maintenance of project plans and progress-tracking;
  • Management of change requests;
  • Project team leadership and coordination of production across web, audiovisual, editorial, graphic design and consulting disciplines;
  • Quality control;
  • Liaison with clients, reporting;
  • Budget follow-up.

Some projects may be web-only or print-only, but many are likely to be multi-channel.
As well as ensuring the delivery of outstanding communication products, you will be expected to provide clients with professional advice and to anticipate and explore their future needs, in close cooperation with ESN’s dedicated consulting and sales functions.

2. Profile

We are looking for a self-starter who is creative, dependable, well-organised and meticulous, and who can stay cool under the pressure of tight deadlines. Candidates should have a strong background in communication, with practical working knowledge of a wide range of modern methods and tools.

Essential characteristics (please do not apply unless you match all of these):

  • Minimum four years successful communication project management experience in a commercial environment;
  • A sound methodological approach, and a willingness to adopt project management tools and procedures specified by ESN;
  • Familiarity with a variety of modern communication technologies and approaches;
  • Diplomacy, excellent people skills and a strong commercial instinct;
  • Good writing and presentational skills;
  • Languages: excellent written and spoken English, and at least conversational French;
  • University degree (Bachelors).

Desirable characteristics:

  • Proven experience of managing substantial communication projects;
  • Formal qualification or proven practical experience with a recognised project management methodology (such as PRINCE2) and its application to the communication services life-cycle;
  • Proven experience in implementing and following quality procedures;
  • Written and spoken Flemish;
  • A degree in Communication.
