Associate Director of Joint and Dual Degree Programs, MBA Program

The MBA Program Associate Director of Joint and Dual Degree Programs collaborates closely with colleagues at the GSB and other Stanford departments and schools to support joint degree students and programs. To align with Stanford’s focus on interdisciplinary learning, the Associate Director manages and coordinates programs and support for joint degree students, as well as supports the development of new joint degree programs. In addition to leading programs and support for joint degree students, the Associate Director will serve as an advisor to MBA students and lead other strategy and curricular support projects as needed.

Responsibilities include:
Program management: Collaborate with joint degree partners in other departments on admissions processes, key program events, advising, and graduation verification; host information and/or welcome sessions for incoming joint and dual degree students; consult with the Senior Associate Dean of the MBA Program on all special petitions; lead a cross-functional working group of student-facing staff across the school; communicate policy and any subsequent changes to relevant parties; understand systems and processes to collaborate on solutions unique to joint degree students; advocate for system and process improvements to improve the joint and dual degree student experience.

Program building: Investigate new joint degree options; work with other program directors to craft a thoughtful, solid combination of the two curriculums to be presented for approval by the respective departmental faculty and the University Faculty Senate; develop partnerships with new joint degree departments regarding admissions processes, programming, and communications; enrich joint and dual degree programming by leveraging existing Stanford resources and, where needed, developing new content; work with students and staff to create a sense of community among joint and dual degree populations, including the development of an online space specific to these populations; create a joint and dual degree program annual report for the GSB community.

Student advising: Serve as the primary academic advisor for joint and dual degree students, including joint and dual degree requirements, degree progress, course selection, and program and University policy; collaborate with the MBA Admissions office regarding questions from prospective students; represent the MBA program at orientations, presentations, and fairs; listen to student concerns and advocate for solutions to address them. Act as academic advisor for MBA students as needed.

Project management: Lead strategic analyses and ad-hoc projects as part of the collaborative MBA Program team focused on strategy and curricular support. 

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Requires 6+ years of work experience; preferably with student services experience in graduate education. 
• Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain complex academic policies and procedures.
• A self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and follow-through: a high degree of creativity and pragmatism; the ability to juggle multiple projects; and the ability to take a project through from conceptualization to execution.
• A collaborative team-player: a willingness and ability to reach out to many constituencies and understand their needs and priorities; an ability to move a group to consensus and to motivate others to act; and strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Superb written and verbal communication skills, active listening skills, and the interpersonal skills needed to work with a broad range of individuals successfully including faculty, staff, and students.
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage a significant advising case load, to define problems, to propose and implement effective and timely solutions, to differentiate between recommendations/suggestions and requirements, and to set and readjust often-competing priorities.
• Comfortable working at both high-level planning and detailed implementation: ability to see the big picture, how individual components fit into it, and the implications of decisions; strong organizational skills, instinctive attention to detail; ability to execute quickly and efficiently.
• Disposition for thriving in a demanding, often-interrupted, customer-service oriented atmosphere while handling a wide variety of tasks and maintaining composure and positive attitude.
