Consultancy - Develop a communication strategy to enhance the impact of NRC global access advocacy


Background: Over the past year, NRC has collected significant evidence on access related issues and developed products to be used in advocacy to address the challenges identified. To enhance impact of NRC’s advocacy on access related issues, effective dissemination of products and clear messaging around the issues for different audience will need to be developed
Consultant tasks and responsibilities
The consultant should develop a communication strategy to support the access advocacy not limited to, but including: - Stakeholder analysis (Norway and internationally) - Key messages on access for the humanitarian and non-humanitarian community, based on advocacy messages - Mapping of arenas relevant for dissemination of access advocacy products (in Norway and internationally) - Recommendations for use of different channels in the communication work – NRC channels and external
The first task of the consultant would be to identify the main components of the communication strategy in collaboration with NRC. Consultations across NRC, IDMC and with external actors should form the basis for the development of the strategy
Experience: Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in humanitarian communication work internationally
Location of assignment: while the position will require travel to Oslo, most of the work can be done remotely
Duration: 20 days (to be completed by 31 December 2012)
