Job Description

Our market leading Employment Pensions and Benefits Team is a fast growing practice within one of the worlds foremost law firms. We advise on all aspects of employment, pensions and benefits law. Our work includes advisory work across all areas of human resources law, advising on the employment, pension and benefits implications of termination and a range of contentious and non-contentious work. Much of what the team does has an international flavour, advising companies on cross-border projects. We work closely with other departments in the firm, providing them with the specialist input they need for projects they are managing.

You will be a member of our leading pensions team. We have a broad practice and will give you the opportunity to gain cutting edge pensions experience.
 
This will include:
  • Advice to trustees and employers
  • Pension aspects of transactions and restructurings including regular interaction with The Pensions Regulator 
  • Advice on managing scheme funding including investment buy-ins and buy-outs
  • Dispute resolution. Acting for employers and trustees in complex pensions litigation.
 

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Draft complex legal documents succinctly 
  • Negotiate/argue relatively complex issues or points alone or alongside partners
  • Take full responsibility for work and delegates, manage and mentor junior associates and trainees
  • Participate at seminars/training with clients and other associates and work with our Business Development Manager to generate ideas/plans
  • Establish profile and relationships with partners and clients by displaying a good understanding of the clients current business and future objectives and is able to provide commercially oriented advice
  • Has structured and timely approach to financial management including regular review of work in progress, billing and unpaid bills


Key Requirements

  • High quality lawyer with strong technical and commercial background
    Intellectually strong with top class academics
  • Minimum of three years PQE
  • Top experience at a leading law firm

Rolling recruitment program. Salary range is approximately £80,000 - £100,000 depending on PQE level and the seniority of particular role. 
 
Where we indicate a band of PQE for a role, this indicates how long we would expect a lawyer to take to gain the level of experience required in an appropriate legal context. It does not preclude applications from those with more or less PQE who can demonstrate that they have acquired the relevant experience.
