Development Officer, Annual Programs , San Diego, CA
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, this position is responsible for working with all members of the Development team to build and manage the Annual Fund with a focus on the development of the existing donor base and the growing prospect base to become active (and/or elevated donors) who provide ongoing, annual support. Position is also responsible for identifying prospective major gift donors from among this cadre.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Vice President, Senior Director of Development and Senior Director of Marketing and Communications to develop Annual Fund strategy and set annual goals. • Formulating infrastructure and implementing calendar for Annual Giving Program including annual giving solicitations, on-line giving and direct mail. • Managing the day-to-day operation of the Annual Fund including: planning and implementing mailings, drafting solicitation materials, database list management. • Managing a prospect pool of Annual Fund donors and making solicitations as appropriate. • Prepare and extensively revise mailing lists for newsletters, appeals, annual reports, event invitations, major/principal gifts reports, and other regular mailings. • Support Development Department in executing appeals: new appeal pieces, renewal pieces, targeted pieces and new acquisition pieces, utilizing current data for improved return. • Managing Annual Fund Budget. • Track the appeals and share information with the Development Department in order to determine best practices, recommend future strategies based on results. • Oversee general stewardship system for all donors and where appropriate, donor prospects. Work with the Development Department and appropriate program officers to strategize and provide top notch stewardship reports to donors and donor prospects. • Manage PCI’s participation in workplace campaigns (i.e., ICA, CFC, United Way). • Performs individual wealth screenings on existing and prospective donors utilizing Raiser’s Edge Target Analytics and Wealth Point systems. • Researches current and prospective donors for specific fundraising campaigns. • Creates donor giving categories for Annual Report listing. • Develops and implements systems for moving donors through increased giving levels. • Manages strategies for re-enlisting support from lapsed donors. • Creates specialized fundraising campaigns. • Collaborates with website manager on marketing activities. • Manages online fundraising campaigns, including configuring targeted donation forms and tribute gifts, creating donor acknowledgements, and tracking online response. • Configures and maintains all eCommerce modules, including updating content as needed. • Creates, builds and tracks all online fundraising email campaigns. • Provide strategic direction and develop a coordinated matrix of solicitation strategies including: e-philanthropy: online giving, web and email solicitation, text based giving, social media. • Manage external vendors and relationships with internal departments. *other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Education and Qualifications: • A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4-5 years of professional experience with three years specifically in fundraising • Experience with direct mail, telemarketing, personal solicitation, on-line giving and other technologies. • Experience in project management and the ability to manage and maintain a budget • Demonstrated ability to be entrepreneurial in handling multiple tasks and projects, and meeting established goals with specific time frames. • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work well independently and as part of a team. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Strong computer and research skills. • Experience with Raisers Edge and/or Salesforce a plus. • Innovative in developing new annual giving strategies. • Possesses functional knowledge and experience with HTML/CSS
