FINCA International is looking for a Chief Accountant/Head of the Accounts. This is a senior position in finance and administration department. The incumbent will ensure the overall supervision of the section, safeguards the company's physical and financial assets with the aim of maximizing returns.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Supervision and training:
- Supervise all the activities of the accounting section
- Supervise staff in the accounting section
- Supervise the posting into the general and subsidiary ledger.
- Review, monitoring, and control of accounts and reports:
- Review all cash and transitory accounts reconciliations;
- Bank reconciliations;
- Reviews and monitors branch transitory accounts;
- Regular review of the accounting records.
- Maintenance of system procedures and processes:
- Updating of chart of accounts and financial reporting structure according to local GAAP or IFRS and accounting policies and procedures;
- Monitor daily closure of session and clear all the system related issues.
- Report preparation:
- Review the accuracy of accounting records to ensure that they give and fair view of the operations of the organization;
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly reports including ALCO reports, income statement, balance sheet, status of suspense accounts and cash flow statement.
- Maintenance of external relations:
- Facilitate internal and external audits in conformity with FINCA International, Central Bank, and other government agency (i.e. tax) reporting requirements;
- Represent the CFO and CD in tax and other government agencies’ inspections.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting , CPA/ACCA or Chartered Accountancy equivalent is added advantage;
- Masters degree and/or CPA/ACCA is preferred;
- Minimum of 3 years (2 years as supervising accounting functions);
- Worked with at least one accounting computer systems;
- Strong experience in financial management of a company, desirably a financial institution;
- Sound knowledge of microfinance and principles and practices of banking;
- Language: English.
