OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
UNITAID's mission is to contribute to the scale-up of access to treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis for people in developing countries by leveraging quality drugs and diagnostics price reduction and accelerating the pace at which they are made available.
Description of duties:
1. To provide assistance, advice and guidance to portfolio managers/technical officers on financial
and audit matters for a given set of 8-10 UNITAID projects representing approximately 100 million
dollars a year throughout their life cycle for a set of given projects/grants. The incumbent will :
* provide assessments of the relevant sections of the proposals submitted by proponents;
* support the portfolio managers in guiding proponents so that they can develop an acceptable grant budget;
* once a proposal is approved for funding, assess the fiduciary capacity of the grant recipient and support the development and approval of the final budgets;
* advise the portfolio manager accordingly during the negotiation and conclusion of the grant agreement;
* assist the portfolio manager by reviewing the financial reports and cash disbursement requests received from the grant recipient and ensuring reviews and audits take place as scheduled and are followed up;
* assist the portfolio manager on the financial aspects of modifications to grant agreements;
* ensure all financial matters are handled appropriately at the end of the project.
2. To support financial management of grants in more general ways. The incumbent will:
* assess the financial performance of each grant/project on a regular basis;
* prepare reports and documents related to grant and funding levels for projects that are needed by Senior Management or the Governing Bodies;
* help the finance team improve its processes related to grant management.
3. To take on any other task related to the overall work of the finance department in agreement with the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential
University degree in business, commerce or accounting plus a professional certification in
accounting, financial planning or internal audit (ACCA, CPA, CIA).

Experience:
Essential
At least five years of relevant experience in the international public or nonprofit sector out of which at least two years experience in dealing with management of projects and grants to partner organizations. Experience in working in the context of partnerships with other organizations.
Desirable
Experience in external or internal auditing or assessment of internal control of financial systems.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English required.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD 56'018 at single rate
USD 60'013 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
