Mobility Networks Civil Engineer - Traffic, Transport & Roads , South Africa


To take full responsibility and accountability for the increase in the capacity and flow of the existing road network through active management of network components and by continuously monitoring, assessing and enhancing the network operations, in accordance with the policies and the objectives of the Agency.
Manage Mobility and Network Unit, in line with the short and long term vision for mobility as a key strategic objective for the Agency. Within agreed timeframes.
The preparation and implementation of plans for increasing the income of the Mobility Unit.
Management and control of the CAPEX & OPEX Budgets of the Unit.Complete Risk Assessment Exercise and mitigate findings.Active membership of the Corporate Management Team.
  • Set up the Mobility Management and Network Unit, in line with short and long term vision for mobility as a key strategic objective for the Agency.
  • Improve the mobility and the safety of the existing road network.
  • Ensure, with the use of relevant ATC systems, the effective management of real time mobility and feedback to customers.
  • Manage liaison with all role players, internal and external to the Agency.
  • Set up effective and comprehensive of Service Level Agreements, both internal and external to the Agency, to improve mobility through partnership and commitment.
  • Evaluation and correct implementation of all available data and guidance obtained from the Roads User Forum and other stakeholder organizations.
  • Effective management of the interface between the Agency and its customers, including VIPs, Joburg Connect, the media and internal role-players.

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualifications & Experience
  • BSc Engineering (Civils in Traffic, Transport,Networks and Roads)
  • Business and management skills & experience relating to developing and leading a unit/divisional scale organization. Unless the applicant can demonstrate that he/she has developed the necessary competencies through experience, a degree/diploma or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Professional Engineer status.
  • A minimum of  12 years managerial, contractual and communication experience.
  • Proven experience with project management.
  • Knowledge

  • Understanding of contractual laws
