The Opportunity
JTA is seeking applications for a Senior Program Manager to deliver services as an integral member of our Brisbane-based program management team. This position will be responsible for the full scope of program management activities including monitoring and evaluation, contracting, reporting, risk management, human resource management, financials, procurement, logistical support and stakeholder management.
This is a 12-14 month maternity leave contract position (with a possible extension), with the anticipated start date being February/March 2013. There will be a requirement for some international travel as part of this role.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated program management experience within the development sector, with the ability to manage, at a senior level, the delivery of multi-faceted health programs. A solid understanding of monitoring and evaluationconcepts and their application to development programs will be a key strength. The successful individual will also have the ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, dynamic business environment whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism, client focused service delivery and accuracy in work.
The experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that we require of applicants are:

• Minimum eight (8) years’ program management experience working within a services environment or a developing country context providing support to overseas/in-country operations, within the international health and development sector, preferably for AusAID or another similar bilateral aid donor.
• Demonstrated understanding and application of all aspects of program management gained from an international health and development sector context, including: financial management, human resource management and contracts management.
• Demonstrated experience working with a range of both qualitative and quantitative based monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
• Excellent organisation skills with demonstrated experience in developing and implementing program and annual plans.
• Well-developed interpersonal, communication and stakeholder liaison skills with a demonstrated ability to produce high quality reports.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain complex stakeholder relationships, including the ability to work with diverse teams and cultures.
• Tertiary qualifications in international public health, international development or a related discipline are desirable.
• Experience working in the Pacific Islands or another developing country context is desirable.
