Financial Institution Training Specialist (Part Time) - Yemen

Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) invites immediate expressions of interest for the position of Financial Institution Training Specialist (Part Time). MEDA is working with the European Commission: Yemen Economic Support Program (YESP) to devise and implement a project focused on MSME growth. The project - ADEN (Approach for Developmentfinance ENhancement) will improve access to financial services and employment opportunities in Yemen through three main activities: 1) Management of a revolving loan fund for MSMEs; 2) Capacity building of local banks and MFIs; 3) Training and business development services to local MSMEs.
Position Summary
As a key member of ADEN's core team, the FI Training Specialist under the supervision of Managing Director to facilitate the strengthening and development of the partner FIs and the sector. This is a multi-year/ time bound contract. Main responsibilities include collaborating and liaising with the key stakeholders in the financial services sector in identifying capacity and institutional building needs and designing, developing, conducting industry-level training programs, applying risk-based and customer-focused MEDA approaches to financial institution capacity building frameworks for effectively reaching MSMEs and women and youth entrepreneurs. This position reports directly to the ADEN Managing Director.
Qualifications
  • University degree, ideally a Masters, and ideally combining the disciplines of Business Administration, Social Entrepreneurship and Microfinance, Adult Education or other related discipline.
  • Proven track record of at least seven (7) years experience in training programs, adult education, institutional capacity building, and/or microfinance management.
  • Experience in providing technical assistance and training for financial institutions in Yemen
  • Familiarity with bi- and multi-lateral government agencies, donors (particularly EC, DFID, USAID), non-governmental organizations and other development agencies working in Yemen's microfinance sector.
  • Excellent skills in communication, relationship building, intercultural engagement, networking and interpersonal communication, negotiation and leadership.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing program.
  • Fluency in Arabic
  • Flexibility to work part-time and based on the needs of ADEN's capacity building and training program workplan
