Senior Project Manager – Women's Economic Development (WED)
The Senior Project Manager will have primary responsibility for managing development projects and partnerships related to market linkages and value chain development. Specific duties will include providing technical support to projects and partners, overseeing project implementation, preparing and monitoring workplans and budgets, preparing financial and narrative reports and managing effective donor, client, and partner relationships. The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for delivering short term consulting assignments and contributing to new business development for the area of women's economic development. This is a full time permanent position, based in Waterloo, Canada or Washington DC. Regular international travel to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sub Saharan Africa, Central Asia, and other locations is required. Ideal start date is late summer 2013.
Qualifications:
  • University degree, ideally a Masters, in International Economic Development, Rural
  • Development, Business, Agriculture Economics or related field.
  • Proven track record of at least five (5) years experience in project management and delivering consulting services in one or more of the following areas: value chains, women's economic development, international business, rural development, agribusiness investment, financial sector development or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years management experience in overseas location is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of bi- and multi- lateral government agencies, donors (including foundations and private donors), non-governmental organizations and other development agencies working in economic growth and development
  • Excellent and demonstrable skills in building relationships, intercultural engagement, networking and interpersonal communication.
  • Proficiency in a second language such as Dari, Urdu, French or Spanish or is highly desirable
  • Willingness to undertake extensive international travel.
  • Appreciation and support of MEDA's faith, values and goals.
