About the role
We are seeking an exceptional programme manager to oversee delivery of a new major programme on rural access to clean energy in India. You will work closely with our local and international teams, with a particular focus on managing relationships with a network of commercial solutions providers, entrepreneurs, institutional partners (including the World Bank Institute), local NGOs, local government representatives and monitoring & evaluation partners in the field in three Indian states (likely to be drawn from West Bengal, Gujarat, Odisha, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh). This is an exciting opportunity to work on a funded project addressing both environmental and social needs as part of a fast-moving and dynamic NGO team.
 
About you
You will be able to demonstrate proven capabilities in the following areas:
 
Essential:
 
• Experience in working on project delivery in rural India, preferably related to clean energy access, solar lighting or micro-grid deployment.
• A proven track record of success in project delivery, including managing partners.
• Excellent people management skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Strong analytical skills, particularly experience with technical data and contract compliance.
• Good financial skills, including managing and reporting budgets.
• Commercial acumen, including management of contracts.
• Fluent written and spoken English, including report writing.
• Competent user of MS Office, including Excel.
• Ability to multi-task within a small team and to manage conflicting priorities.
 
 
Desirable:
• Experience of using project management software.
• Experience of working in the not-for-profit sector.
• A relevant degree or professional qualification.
• Experience in fundraising and income generation. 
 
Location
You will be based in Delhi, with frequent travel expected to project locations.
 
Terms and conditions
The salary for the post will be Rupees 180,000 per month, with potentially more for an exceptional candidate, plus 25 days earned vacation per annum and national holidays.
