Social Media Assistant

The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks a professional Social Media Assistant with a high level of commitment to update and follow social media marketing technologies to increase public awareness and strengthen CIP’s relationships with publicist key audiences.
The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweet potato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP is headquartered in Lima, Peru, with staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the CGIAR Consortium. CGIAR is a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. Its science is carried out by the 15 research centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations.
The position: The Social Media Assistant position will be based in Lima, Peru. He/she will report to the Deputy of Head of Communications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise CIP presence in social network sites to contribute to CIP’s public awareness strategies.
  • Create multimedia content including client narratives/testimonials for different social media channels to increase CIP’s online global presence.
  • Keep updated with the new trends in social media tools and applications to guarantee CIP works with the latest techniques available.
  • Supervise and measure the impact of social media as a part of CIP’s marketing efforts to validate communication effectiveness.
Selection Criteria:
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Communications.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience sourcing and managing content and publishing for an institutional social media network.
  • Knowledge of social media tools and trends.
  • Excellent communication skills to different target groups in diverse communication channels.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills at different levels and work experience in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to anticipate and adapt to changes, team work, and accountability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skill in English and Spanish.
Conditions:
This position is local and the employment contract will be for an initial one-year term with three months of probation period and with the possibility of renewal. CIP prides itself on its collegial and supportive working environment, which allows space for personal and professional growth.
