The role

We are currently seeking a Regional Manager for our South Australian business. The position is based in Adelaide. 
Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Effective strategic planning and management of the region
  • Achieve sustainable growth of the region through targeted client relationship management and business development activity
  • Provide project governance, at project director level, of project management in the region to achieve reliable project performance in terms of sophistication, timeliness and quality.
  • With support from functional management, provide leadership to the employees located in the region to ensure cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work
Suitable applicants will have/be:
  • Bachelor degree / higher degree in Civil Engineering from accredited university/college
  • Minimum 20 years industry experience and technical background in a multi-disciplinary consultancy engineering environment with vast local exposures
  • Strategic management and planning skills, as well as Financial management skills
  • Effective decision making coupled with excellent analytical skills
  • A thorough understanding of business development, technical capabilities and procurement appropriate to SMEC's operations
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a large team of staff with excellent leadership and management skills
  • A sound understanding of funding agency policy, rules, and procedures
  • Able to write effectively in English to furnish reports and to prepare business development materials including proposals
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of appropriate software applications and design tools e.g. AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • A sound experience in project management and hands-on encompassing administrative, commercial and technical aspects in delivering within project based budgets and timelines
  • Effective and efficient time management skills in meeting deadlines and ability in workingindependently achieving objectives
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Sound knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA).
