Role Summary
The job entails running searches over a specialist database and maintaining the quality of the information in the database generally. All incoming work globally is checked by this team, which, as result, is very well-known and respected within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
The major objective of the job is to run highly accurate searches over a single in-house database and to liaise with fee-earners and secretaries as required. The post-holder will know how to search a database effectively and will be able to work to a high standard under time-pressures. He or she will also contribute to the maintenance of high standards of information within the department and will work well within a small friendly team. Overtime work is required from time to time and there is a voluntary rotating shift for evening work (9pm finish) which can be worked from home once training has been completed.
Requirements
The qualities required for this post are: a high level of general intelligence, common sense and concentration, a sense of commitment and responsibility towards the work, a polite and assured manner in dealing with senior colleagues, and very good spoken and written English. Some understanding of, or interest in, business or legal affairs would be useful. Extreme discretion is essential in relation to confidential information.
Degree level (or equivalent) education is essential, and experience in a City environment, and/or a background in information work would be very advantageous.
Training on the database will be provided in-house
The Individual
Essential competencies are good searching skills, accurate data entry, some understanding of how a database works, a pleasant manner, and diligence.
A desirable competency would be previous experience of risk-related work.
